A blog cultivated by Annabelle Barrow & she's kind of embarrassed about it, but not enough to stop posting and delete the thing.

tomatoes

Here's a story that I wish was true, but probably isn't:

An old Italian gentleman lived alone in New  Jersey.  He wanted to plant his annual tomato garden, but it was very difficult work, as the ground was hard.  His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:
Dear Vincent,  I am feeling pretty sad because it looks like I won’t be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I’m just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. I know if you were here my troubles would be over. I know you would be happy to dig the plot for me, like in the old days.  Love,  Papa
A few days later he received a letter from his son.
Dear Papa,   Don’t dig up that garden. That’ s where the bodies are buried.  Love,  Vinnie
At 4 a.m. The next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left.  That same day the old man received another letter from his son.
Dear Papa,  Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now.  That’s the best I could do under the circumstances.  Love you, Vinnie

I'm going to be cliche.

Rosh, I thought we were supposed to take actual pictures, huh? :P

This is my grandfather aka Papaw/Pawpaw/Papa.
Our family never spells what we call him the same way.
I never really think of people inspiring me.
I think of objects and colors and designs inspiring me for my next craft project.
I guess if I did pick somebody, it would be my grandfather.
He has been married to my lovely, yet sometimes trying grandmother for 50 years.
He lost a lot of weight after the age of 55. (Which they say is really hard to do)
This year he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and he has gone through chemo, radiation, and surgery. He's fine now.
Through all of that he has remained the same sweet man he has been my entire life.
If I was to be inspired by him, I would be inspired by his gentleness and thoughtfulness.

That episode with the freaky kid that keeps saying, "Are you my mummy?" Still freaks me out. Something about those old timey masks.

I'm not a yarn snob (yet) so I don't really look at the labels right off the bat. First, I feel the yarn & see how soft it is THEN, I look at what it's made of. So far I've really liked wool+acrylic mixes. They seem to be my favorite.

While dyeing my hair...

Doctor Who day! *Spoilers
I found it on tumblr. It says knitting!
I haven't actually watched the episode yet because my grandparents are hogging the TV, but also because I'm in the middle of dyeing my hair. It's called Moonlit Tortoise. It's brown. Medium brown to be exact. My roots are really gray and I just needed a touch up. I got it all over my forehead and it reminds me of that scene in Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star when he dyes his hair brown and he gets it on his forehead. Cool story, bro. I know.

I pretty much collect everything since I'm like one step below being a full blown hoarder, but something that I actually collect is postcards. Not blank ones, but ones that people have sent me. I do this website postcrossing.com & you just put your address in & then it randomly selects an address for you to send a postcard. It's cool. I also get a postcard from an actual friend every once in a while. I don't necessarily consider that collecting, but I'm not just going to throw them away. That's mean.

Martha Jones. She really annoyed me. I did feel bad that she fell in love with the doctor, but she shoulda known to not do that.

Day 6: What is your favorite piece that you’ve knit?
The two Jayne Cobb hats. One for my mom & one for my bro.

BAM

Bad puns always do the trick. I saw this at BAM today & I almost bought it, but then I remembered how I already have like 15,834,323,234 notebooks that I don't write in. I still want it though (:

Simon Pegg, from that episode where there's future Earthlings & a creepy monster that's living in the ceiling.

I made that bookmark, you know, & it took me about 2 days because every time I would put the needles down I forgot how to do the knit stitch & I would have to read through how to do it again and again.

Luckily next year I'll be transferred to Pigfarts

WARNING: Fart jokes ahead
So usually I have sirius radio in my car, but since I've been having to drive my grandparents car, I've been living with out it. In the mornings, on regular radio, the stations rarely play actual music. Mostly they talk about annoying things. THIS morning though. This morning was funny. The station I was listening to was 103.7 and the dude was like "Guys listen to this game I play to amuse myself. Take a song with the word 'heart' in the lyrics and replace it with the word 'fart.' For example, fart of glass." !!! So good. The possibilities are endless.
And who do you think you are
Runnin' around leavin' scars
Collecting your jar of farts

Fart Songs - Weezer

Half of my fart's got a right mind to tell you that I can't keep loving you
With half of my fart

Anyway, I don't have to listen to the morning radio people anymore because I have a car now! & it has sirius radio! It is the nicest car I have ever driven. But I do miss my saturn.

My grandmother wants me to make her a cd. I asked her what she wanted on it & she said, "oh whatever you think." So now I'm looking for some PG rated songs for my grandmother.

Day 4 - Favorite Character
Donna Noble's grandfather Wilfred Mott, no doubt. He was a funny old dude.

Day 4: How did you learn how to knit?
I bought a Stitchin' Bitch book and I checked some books out from the library and taught myself. Also, I watched a lot of youtube videos.

Today wasn't so bad

I changed my notification sound on my cell phone to the Doctor Who intro & it was the best decision I've made probably all year.
I've been wondering all day why fat girls are portrayed as bitches on TV. I started watching Awkward. on mtv.com because my cousin suggested it. Usually, I think her suggestions are bad, but I was desperate for something new today. It's fucking funny. BUT there is this "overweight" cheerleader who is evil to the core. And them I remembered Lauren Zizes from glee who's got 'attitude problems' and there are more examples, but I'm shit at remembering examples. What's the deal, yo? It's like society thinks we're bitter for being fat. I'm not bitter. I have low self-esteem, but I'm generally a very nice person.
Anyway, watch Awkward. It's good.

Whoa time has snuck up on me! I'm going to be in Washington DC in two weeks! I'm currently halfway excited & halfway stressed!

Day 3 - Favorite Villain/Monster/Alien/Baddie of the Week
I can't think of any other villian except for the weeping angels at this moment. So weeping angels. They're neat.    I also liked the Master. Is he classified as a villian?

Day 3: Do you have any other WIPs (works in progress)?
Nope. Not really working on anything else because I'm procrastinating.

Someone Like You

Adele's song Someone Like You is seriously the best song to sing along to in the car (alone)/ It's just so much good. Her voice is so excellent & Britishy.

Hah I just looked at the wedding pictures of the biggest crush of my life. My heart just kind of shriveled a little.  I mean, there's no way in hell that I would ever have had a chance with him, but still...
Besides that, something's wrong with my thigh. It sort of feels like a bruise, but there isn't one visible which cons me into thinking that there isn't one. But I guess there still could be one.
I'm feeling that feeling where I need to be doing something productive, but instead I know I'm not going to. It's not the best feeling.

To quote one of my favorite bloggers, "I just want to nap until it's over"

Day 2 - Favorite Companion
Gun to my head, I'd pick Amy "Pond" Williams. I really really like Donna Noble though. And Rose wasn't so bad.

Well... There's a purple scarf for my mom & that's about it. I should be doing more.

Inconsistency

should be my middle name.

Maybe I can make this 30 day thing last because it's about things that I love.
And I'm doing 2 at a time because that's just the kind of blogger I am.
Also, I've been leading a boring life lately.

Day 1: What was your first finished project
I made my grandmother a red bookmark that's about 2" x 4.5" from red dk weight yarn & it's garter stitch so it's entirely too thick to actually use for a bookmark, but my grandmother really likes it. The other day I told her I would make a better one so she could get rid of that crummy one & she told me I could make her another one, but I'm not allowed to get rid of her favorite bookmarker.

The thing about cars

Is that you have to have one. You have to own one or you have to have a friend that owns one or you have to call a business that will drive over to get you and take you to where you need to go in one. At least, that's what you have to do in Alabama. I know in imaginary perfect land or Amish country, you can walk every where or ride your trusty bicycle or a horse and buggy. It turns out that I never have and never will live in imaginary perfect land. Or Amish country, for that matter.
I have to drive everywhere. It's not because I'm fat and I hate walking. (Although, that is one reason.) All the time I think about how I'm slowly killing my planet because I have to drive a car that consumes precious gas.
I can't say that it's impossible to bike from Gadsden to JSU everyday, but honestly it's damn near. How long would it take to bike from Gadsden to Madison? Would I want to do that ever other weekend? I'm really curious about what's going to happen when gas becomes too expensive to buy like we buy it now. Will we be forced to carpool and require less jobs in the car manufacturing industry which will cause a whole nother crisis? Will humans become hermits and never travel to other parts of their country, much less other parts of the world? Or will we find another way? So many questions.

Anyway, I don't have a car.
And every time somebody in my family brings it up, I cry. So, there's that.

In other news, the episode of Doctor Who that I just watched has devastated me.

Wednesday, September 14

I'm kind of hesitant to start a blog

But I guess it's too late because I've already started. I just don't know what to write. Most of what I think of, is either something that I've already told all my friends and family OR it's too stupid to tell my friends and family. Here goes:

I've been trying to think of ways to organize all of the pictures that I've saved from the internet. I'm definitely a hoarder of all things internet. I have just realized that the internet pretty much saves every bit of information that has ever been put out there ever and I don't need to right click save as every single cool .jpg that I see. Because there is a very small chance that the link for that picture will expire and nobody else has that picture and now it's gone forever. That just doesn't happen that often. Probably. I don't know percentages.

Pinterest (((elllebanna))) has really helped with this save as obsession. It's basically everything I've ever wanted in a website. There's all these great pictures and every one of them link back to the picture's birth place. I wish I had asked for an invite sooner.

So I have been taking my pictures that I've saved and I've been putting them into google's totally awesome image search drag and drop feature. Best thing that google's invented, besides all of the other things that google's invented. Should I capitalize Google? Is that a thing to do?

And then it tells me where the picture originated. That's pretty legit.
Of course it doesn't work for every single picture, but most is better than none.

Oh snap HTML editing brings me back to the days of xanga. Blogspot, are you just xanga in fancy new clothes?
